ABOUT THE JASON SPENCER TRUST
There are two main reasons as to why we decided to form The Jason Spencer Trust, and to start the LIFE campaign.
* The first being in honour of our most loving & dear son Jason.
* The second reason is to offer much needed help and support for suffering and vulnerable victims of homicide along with their families and friends.
Picture this ………….
It’s a typical day at home and you’re sharing a laugh and a joke with your only child, making plans for the future and deciding what to have for tea. When your child calls out “am off to see a friend around the corner wont be long” the door goes and their off happy, joyful, and full of life, your only thoughts are getting the tea ready. Then within what seems like a few minuets there’s a knock at the door it’s the police with the news that your only child, your baby, the only person who gives meaning and purpose in your life has been brutally & savagely murdered outside your home…….
Your heart feels as though it’s been torn out... You’re dazed….
Confused…
It can’t be real…. They must have it all wrong, who would want
to hurt my child!…. Surly it’s a mistake... They will be home in
a minute, wait & see…. Then it dawns on you it is real… your
baby is never coming back! The devastation, the hurt, the pain, you are now
in a different world a place where nightmares are real and dreams are no more,
a place were you struggle to make it through the minutes the hours the day.
Tomorrow seems so far away will you make it, or even do you want to make it!
You need help and you need it now! You cry, shout and scream but no one listens, you try to find somewhere to go, but there is no were, you realise that the help that you would expect to receive does not exist .How can this be? Alcoholics, and drug addicts get help and your child has just been murdered and you get none!, No door to knock on, no place of refuge, no real support structure, you are thrown deeper & deeper into limbo. Its getting harder to carry on!.... then you start thinking not of yourself, but of others, the ones before me and the ones that will come after me!! What will they do? were will they go??????????
That is a small & brief insight into the reasons why The Jason Spencer Trust needs to build The Life Centre. It is important for EVERYONE, no matter who you are, where you live, or what you do…. to realize that child murder can happen to anyone, any where, and at any time, your child doesn’t need to be in a gang! Or sell drugs! Or live in a so called ghetto! It doesn’t matter if they have a child minder, wether they are in school, or on holiday…. It’s a cruel, cruel world we live in, and no matter how hard we try and protect our child from the evil people that live in it, the harsh reality is that our children only need to be in the wrong place at the wrong time! And that place and that time will never be known to us. My greatest wish is that NO one will ever find themselves in my situation. But being realistic in today’s society, they will no doubt be more!! We need to build this LIFE centre not only for us, or the other surviving victims, but also for the unfortunate victims that’s to come! And god forbid it could be you!.... a family member, a friend, a friend of a friend and so on!....We may not be able to stop these horrific crimes from happening…. BUT and I repeat but….we all can see to it, that the right care and attention is their for each and every one of us if or when the worst thing in any parents life was to happen…The Murder Of Their Child!
Please help us to help others… yes the others could mean you too if the worst was to happen.
Let get this centre built.
